Johnson v. Montana
(Filed: Mar. 3, 2026)
Between April 2023 and January 2024, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services kicked roughly 135,000 people—more than 10% of Montana's population—off Medicaid, leaving thousands of Montanans uninsured and burdened by debt. 57% of Montanans on Medicaid were disenrolled during this period of time. Of this 57%, only 32% were actually deemed ineligible for the Medicaid program. The remaining 68% were disenrolled for "procedural" reasons.
Together with the Graybill Law Firm, we represent two individuals who seek monetary recompense on behalf of themselves and a proposed class of individuals for whom the State unlawfully denied Medicaid benefits due to its negligent administration of the program.
We filed our complaint on March 3, 2026. We expect the case to proceed once the State makes its appearance in the matter.
